Preflighting Desktop Publishing Files
What You Will Learn
Even the most sophisticated creator of desktop publishing and cross-media files needs a systematic way of checking those files to assure that everything needed by a printer is properly developed and included. This class will address all levels of review: preflight without a computer, preflight within the originating software, and preflight with dedicated preflight software.
Exercises will demonstrate how everyone handling the print project, even those without computers, can speed the publication through by making checks before work is released and schedules are set.
Target Student
Developers or reviewers of desktop publishing material, people responsible for the adequacy and accuracy of desktop produced files, or people who need a better understanding of the desktop publishing process will find the information of value.
The class assumes minimum computer competency. It also assumes knowledge of desktop publishing and knowledge of printing terms. It is strongly recommended that New Printing Processes and Terminology and Best Practices for Desktop Publishing be taken prior to this class.
