For production of rigid bindings of ledger and text books when covered
with materials such as buckram, fabrikoid, drilling, book cloth, etc.
Stock: Not less than 80 pct postconsumer fiber. Any percent over 80
percentage points, is encouraged, provided that the requirements of
this Standard are met.

A tolerance of 0.08 mm (0.003 inch) shall be allowed;
except for No. 9 and 12 board, then a tolerance of 5 pct
shall be allowed.
On boards with the shorter dimension over 813 mm (32 inches), an
additional 50 pct of the above thickness tolerance shall be allowed.
Density: Shall average 0.8 to 1.0 g/cm \3\. The average shall be
calculated from determinations made individually on each sheet of the
test sample.
General appearance: The surface shall be free from surface
lumps, clip indentations, and mechanical imperfections, and be
reasonably smooth and flat.
Sampling and testing: Shall be conducted in accordance with standards in
Part 2, Government Paper Specification Standards.

Unless otherwise specified, the following is automatically waived when
printing or duplicating is to be accomplished on commercial contract
Curl: Paper board shall lie flat with either no tendency to curl or with
a curl which can be overcome under reasonable working conditions.
Size and trim: Sufficient trim of not less than 13 mm (0.5 inch)
shall be allowed on both dimensions of the sheet. Board shall be
trimmed square on all four sides with smooth edges.
Pressroom conditions: The bulk of this paper board will be used in air-
conditioned pressrooms maintained at 24 deg.C 2 deg.C
and
45 pct 8 pct relative humidity.
