ACTION: Notice and request for comments.

SUMMARY: In accordance with the Paperwork Reduction Act of 1995, this
notice announces the Maritime Administration's (MARAD's) intention to
request extension of approval for three years of a currently approved
information collection.

Title of Collection: Regulations for Making Excess or Surplus
Federal Property Available to the U.S. Merchant

Type of Request: Extension of currently approved information
collection.
OMB Control Number: 2133-0504.
Form Numbers: None.
Expiration Date of Approval: Three years from date of approval by
the Office of Management and Budget.
Summary of Collection of Information: The Maritime Administration
requires approved maritime training institutions seeking excess or
surplus government property to provide a statement of need/
justification prior to acquiring the property.
Need and Use of the Information: This information is needed by
MARAD to determine compliance with applicable statutory requirements
regarding surplus government property.
Description of Respondents: Maritime training institutions such as
the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, State Maritime Academies and non-
profit maritime institutions.
Annual Responses: 40.
Annual Burden: 40.
