Enhanced Electronic Content Services is powered by GPO's Federal Digital System (FDsys), an easy-to-use searchable public website which guarantees content integrity and ensures long-term preservation of your content.

Searchable Public Website

• Content is published to GPO’s public website, FDsys, which currently contains more than 50 collections of Federal content and receives more than 122,000 unique visitors per week.
  
• Content is organized and maintained in a robust content management system.
• Extensive metadata combined with modern search technology ensure the highest quality search experience utilizing:

Content Integrity

• GPO maintains integrity for all file formats through generation of a SHA-256 algorithm that is stored in a PREMIS metadata file.
• GPO ensures that users can determine integrity of stored PDF documents by using digital signature technology to add a visible Seal of Authenticity.
• GPO’s mechanisms to guarantee authenticity assure end users that published content is official, complete, and unaltered since being disseminated by GPO.

Long-Term Preservation

• Original content files are maintained in GPO’s limited-access OAIS compliant preservation repository.
• All files are regularly backed up at GPO’s separate Continuity of Operations (COOP) site.
• The COOP remote disaster recovery site retains near-real-time data synchronization and five-minute failover capability with full content availability and system functionality.

GPO provides additional services to enhance your content and ensure a seamless process by:

• converting content into other file formats;
• creating metadata and breaking up large documents into smaller sections for precise searching; and
• processing content based on customer’s selection of a range of submission and display options.
