Sample Searches and URLs for Senate Manual

The Senate Manual can be searched using the Simple Search Box and the Advanced Search page. Once results are displayed, you can narrow your search results by clicking on links in the Narrow Your Search panel on the left hand side of the page. The sections under Narrow Your Search correspond to the metadata available for the documents. Senate Manual specific links to narrow your search results will be displayed after you click on Senate Manual under the Collection category.

The following sections give examples of searches that you may want to use for the Senate Manual collection in FDsys.

Searching Senate Manual by Section

These examples will search for documents from the Historical Documents section of the Senate Manual.

Using the Simple Search Box, enter one of the following

collection:sman section:HISTORICAL
collection:sman and section:HISTORICAL

Using the Advanced Search page,

Select Senate Manual from Available Collections
Click Add to add Senate Manual to the Selected Collections box
Select Section from Search in
Select Historical Documents from the Section pull down menu

Searching Senate Manual by Section Number

These examples will search for documents section 141 of the Senate Manual.

Using the Simple Search Box, enter one of the following

Using the Advanced Search page,

Select Senate Manual from Available Collections

Search Senate Manual by Keyword

These examples will search for Senate Manual documents with "voting" in the full text of the publication.

Using the Simple Search Box, enter the following:

voting collection:sman
voting and collection:sman

Using the Advanced Search page,

Select Senate Manual from Available Collections
Click Add to add Senate Manual to the Selected Collections box
Select Full Text of Publications and Metadata from Search in: pull down menu

Sample Senate Manual URLs

FDsys uses two key pieces of information to construct predictable URLs to documents and the More Information pages. The Package ID is used to identify an individual edition of the Senate Manual. The Granule ID is used to identify individual documents within the edition of the Senate Manual.
