As the Chief Acquisition Officer for the U.S. Government Printing Office, Herb Jackson is responsible for the planning and management of GPO’s acquisition program that includes multi-million dollar federal acquisition and procurement initiatives of technical and information systems.

Biography

Jackson has been a GPO employee for 27 years, beginning his GPO career as a Procurement Clerk in Printing Procurement.  In 1984 he was selected for the position of Contract Specialist in GPO’s Materials Management Service. Other positions Jackson has held in the GPO Acquisitions arena include: Senior Contract Administrator;  Chief, Paper and Specialized Procurement and Sales Division; Director, Acquisition Services and Deputy Chief Acquisition Officer and Director, Procurement Services.

Jackson studied Business Administration and English at the University of Maryland and received his Bachelors in Biblical Studies from the Sure Foundation Biblical Institute of Seminole, Florida, where he is currently pursuing a Masters Degree. He also is a graduate of the Council for Excellence in Government’s (CEG) Fellows Program and served the CEG during the 2006-2007 year as a Co-Coach.
