Director
Richard (Ric) Davis currently serves as Acting Superintendent of Documents while continuing to serve as Director of Library Services and Content Management. Davis coordinates and administers a variety of GPO initiatives, including the Federal Depository Library Program (FDLP), the Cataloging and Indexing Program, the International Exchange Service, and the ByLaw Program.
Additionally, Davis manages GPO Access (www.gpoaccess.gov), GPO's award-winning Web site that is the leading source of free, official Government information. |
Biography
Prior to this position, Davis served as GPO's Director of Program Development Services. He also directed GPO's Electronic Information Dissemination Services, where he assumed responsibility for GPO Access. Under Davis' leadership, the publicly available resources on GPO Access have grown to encompass more than 2,800 separate databases through more than 100 applications including the Congressional Record , the United States Code, GAO Reports, Congressional Bills and Reports, Public Laws, the Federal Register, and many more. Davis joined GPO in 1992 as a Program Analyst in the Technical Support Group under the Outstanding Scholar Program.
Davis earned a B.S. in Political Science from James Madison University and was awarded a M.A. in Government at the College of William and Mary. He has also completed additional graduate work at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Virginia Tech). Prior to joining GPO, Davis worked in the private sector for RJR Nabisco.
