The purpose of the proposed action is to reduce flood damage potential of the Red River below Denison Dam area by rehabilitating the Arkansas levee system to minimum levee grade and section design and replacing seven drainage structures through the levee. The project begins in the vicinity of Interstate 30 near Fulton, Arkansas, and extends to the Arkansas-Louisiana border, a distance of approximately 110 miles. The project also includes approximately 6.2 miles of levee, located along McKinney Bayou, which is influenced by backwater conditions of the Red River.
