The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is announcing that Cabot Corp. has filed a petition proposing that the food additive regulations be amended to provide for the safe use of high purity furnace black as a colorant for polymers intended for use in contact with food.

The petition proposes that the food additive regulations in Sec. 178.3297 Colorants for polymers (21 CFR 178.3297) be amended to provide for the safe use of high purity furnace black as a colorant for polymers intended for use in contact with food.
