Whereas the people of the United States should celebrate the contributions of sons-in-law to the stability of the American family; Whereas a national day of celebration would give sons-in-law the recognition they deserve for their positive contributions to the community; Whereas a day should be set aside to focus on the positive qualities of sons-in- law; Whereas the people of the United States should recognize that there are, and always have been, African-American men who have been good fathers, husbands, and sons-in-law; Whereas African-American men, including sons-in-law, should be proud of their contributions and strive to inspire their sons to carry on this heritage; Whereas sons-in-law are providers, protectors, and friends of their children, their spouses, parents, and in-laws; Whereas sons-in-law are the real role models, teachers, and inspirations to the young men who look up to them; Whereas mothers and fathers would have a day to thank their daughters' husbands for their labor, loyalty, and love; Whereas all men who are responsible and loyal to their spouses and their families should be especially rewarded by their in-laws with a day of recognition; and Whereas the family is the future of this great country and sons-in-law are vital links in holding our families together: Now, therefore, be it Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That April 10 is designated as ``National Son-in-Law Day''. <all>
