Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE. This Act may be cited as the ``Rural Federally-Qualified Health Center Resident Training Act of 1993''. SEC. 2. MEDICARE PAYMENT FOR INDIRECT COSTS OF GRADUATE MEDICAL EDUCATION PROVIDED IN CERTAIN RURAL FEDERALLY-QUALIFIED HEALTH CENTERS. (a) In General.--Section 1886(d)(5)(B)(iv) of the Social Security Act (42 U.S.C. 1395ww(d)(5)(B)(iv)) is amended by inserting after ``the hospital'' the following: ``or providing services at any Federally- qualified health center (as defined in section 1861(aa)(4)) that provides services in a rural area (if the hospital incurs all, or substantially all, of the costs of the services furnished to the hospital by such interns and residents)''. (b) Effective Date.--The amendment made by subsection (a) shall apply to cost reporting periods beginning on or after October 1, 1993. <all>
