                                 A BILL


 
To provide for the establishment of a new medical facility for veterans 
                            in south Texas.

    Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the 
United States of America in Congress assembled,

SECTION 1. NEW VETERANS' ADMINISTRATION MEDICAL FACILITY IN SOUTH 
              TEXAS.

    (a) Project Authorization.--The Secretary of Veterans Affairs is 
authorized--
            (1) to acquire a site in south Texas suitable for a medical 
        facility; and
            (2) to construct a medical facility on such site.
    (b) Funding.--There are authorized to be appropriated such sums as 
may be necessary for the purposes of subsection (a), but the amount 
appropriated for the construction of the medical facility may not 
exceed the product of (1) the number of beds to be included in the 
facility, and (2) $290,000.
    (c) Definition.--For purposes of this section, the term ``medical 
facility'' has the meaning given the term in section 5001(3) of title 
38, United States Code.
