Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, SECTION 1. MEDICARE COVERAGE OF DRUGS FOR TREATMENT OF INDIVIDUALS WITH MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS. (a) In General.--Section 1861(s)(2) of the Social Security Act (42 U.S.C. 1395x(s)(2)), as amended by section 13553(a) of the Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act of 1993, is amended-- (1) by striking ``and'' at the end of subparagraph (P); (2) by adding ``and'' at the end of subparagraph (Q); and (3) by adding at the end the following new subparagraph: ``(R) a drug for the treatment of individuals with multiple sclerosis (if the use of the drug for such purpose is approved by the Food and Drug Administration);''. (b) Effective Date.--The amendment made by subsection (a) shall apply to drugs furnished on or after January 1, 1995. <all>
