Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE. This Act may be cited as the ``Ward Valley Land Transfer Act''. SEC. 2. CONVEYANCE OF PROPERTY. Not later than thirty days after the date of enactment of this Act and subject to the terms and conditions described in section 4, the Secretary of the Interior shall convey by quitclaim deed to the Department of Health Services of the State of California, all right, title, and interest of the United States in and to the lands and improvements on the lands described in section 3. SEC. 3. DESCRIPTION OF PROPERTY. (a) In General.--The lands referred to in section 2 are located in San Bernardino County, California, comprising approximately 1,000 acres, as described in subsection (b). (b) Legal Description.--The lands identified in subsection (a) are as follows: San Bernardino Meridian, T. 9 N., R. 19 E., Sec. 26, SW \1/4\ SW \1/4\; Sec. 27, S \1/2\ S \1/2\; Sec. 34, all; Sec. 35, W \1/2\ W \1/2\. SEC. 4. TERMS AND CONDITIONS. (a) Consideration.--The conveyance described in section 2 shall be in consideration of the fair market value of the lands conveyed. (b) Deposit of Funds.--Sums received pursuant to subsection (a) will be available to the Secretary without further appropriation for land acquisition purposes. (c) Release.--Upon transfer of the property described in section 2, the State of California shall release the United States from any liability for claims relating to the property. (d) Reversion.--The conveyance described in section 2 shall be a conveyance of fee simple title to the property, subject to reversion to the United States if the property is not licensed and used as a low- level radioactive waste disposal facility or if payment is not made in accordance with subsection (a). <all>
