Madam Speaker, due to mechanical difficulties involving my flight back to Washington, DC from Indianapolis, I was unable to be on the House Floor for roll call votes 478 and 479. Had I been present I would have voted aye on Roll Call vote 478-- Directing the Architect of the Capitol to place a marker in Emancipation Hall in the Capitol Visitor Center which acknowledges the role that slave labor played in the construction of the United States Capitol; and nay on Roll Call vote 479--To create a new Federal grant program to facilitate an iron working training program for Native Americans. ____________________
