                         Tuesday, April 8, 2008

Mr. OLVER. Madam Speaker, I rise today to honor the citizens of
Bosnia and Herzegovina on their recent anniversary of independence
which was recognized by the United States on April 7, 1992. 1 am
honored that the United States was one of the first nations to
recognize the newly independent Bosnia and Herzegovina.
I would like to applaud the democratic orientation of Bosnia and
Herzegovina and I strongly support the further strengthening of its
government and peoples and their respect for human rights, rule of law,
and free market economics. As we mark the anniversary of U.S.
recognition of an independent Bosnia and Herzegovina, let us reaffirm
our support for Bosnia's progress towards Euro-Atlantic integration.
I once again congratulate the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina on
this anniversary of their independence and I look forward to
collaboration between our two countries.
