BUSINESS SALES AND INVENTORIES--Manufacturing and Trade

In December, according to preliminary estimates, manufacturing and trade 
sales rose 0.9 percent; in November, sales rose 2.3 percent while 
inventories rose $5.9 billion. According to advance estimates, retail 
sales fell 0.2 percent in December. Retail and food services sales fell 
0.3 percent. (Series revised.)
