This work group was formed by the Advisory Council to study issues relating to reporting and disclosure for employee benefit plans covered by ERISA. The purpose of the April 7 meeting is to hear testimony on the disclosure of plan information to participants and beneficiaries as identified in the Department of Labor's Disclosure Request For Information which appeared in the Monday, December 27, 1993 edition of the Federal Register, page 68339. The principal sources of information for such disclosure include summary plan descriptions, summary annual reports and individual benefit statements. The work group is interested in identifying statements. The work group is interested in identifying information that is useful to and used by participants as well as the costs and benefits of any proposed changes. The work group will also take testimony and or submissions from employee representatives, employer representatives and other interested individuals and groups regarding the subject matter. Individuals or representatives of organizations wishing to address the working group should submit a written request on or before April 4, 1994 to William E. Morrow, Executive Secretary, ERISA Advisory Council, U.S. Department of Labor, suite N-5677, 200 Constitution Avenue, NW., Washington, DC 20210. Oral presentations will be limited to ten (10) minutes, but witnesses may submit an extended statement for the record. Organizations or individuals may also submit statements for the record without testifying. Twenty (20) copies of such statement should be sent to the Executive Secretary of the Advisory Council at the above address.
