Opportunity to Comment on the Applicants for the Minot (ND), 
Southern Illinois, and Tri-State (OH) Areas

AGENCY: Federal Grain Inspection Service (FGIS).

ACTION: Notice.

SUMMARY: FGIS is requesting comments on the applicants for designation 
to provide official services in the geographic areas currently assigned 
to Minot Grain Inspection Inc. (Minot), Southern Illinois Grain 
Inspection Service, Inc., and Tri-State Grain Inspection Service, Inc. 
(Tri-State).

DATES: Comments must be postmarked, or sent by telecopier (FAX) or 
electronic mail by June 30, 1994.

SUPPLEMENTARY INFORMATION:
    This action has been reviewed and determined not to be a rule or 
regulation as defined in Executive Order 12866 and Departmental 
Regulation 1512-1; therefore the Executive Order and Departmental 
Regulation do not apply to this action.
    In the April 1, 1994, Federal Register (59 FR 15370), FGIS asked 
persons interested in providing official services in the geographic 
areas assigned to Minot and Tri-State to submit an application for 
designation. Applications were due by May 2, 1994. Minot and Tri-State, 
the only applicants, each applied for designation to serve the entire 
area they are currently assigned.
    In the April 7, 1994, Federal Register (59 FR 16613), FGIS asked 
persons interested in providing official services in the geographic 
area assigned to Southern Illinois to submit an application for 
designation. Applications were due by May 4, 1994. There were two 
applicants. Southern Illinois applied for designation to serve the 
entire area they are currently assigned. Decatur Grain Inspection, Inc. 
(Decatur), applied for designation to serve the entire Southern 
Illinois area in addition to the area they are currently assigned.
    FGIS is publishing this notice to provide interested persons the 
opportunity to present comments concerning the applicants. Commenters 
are encouraged to submit reasons and pertinent data for support or 
objection to the designation of these applicants. All comments must be 
submitted to the Compliance Division at the above address.
    Comments and other available information will be considered in 
making a final decision. FGIS will publish notice of the final decision 
in the Federal Register, and FGIS will send the applicants written 
notification of the decision.
