ACTION: Notice. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- SUMMARY: The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is announcing the withdrawal, without prejudice to a future filing, of a food additive petition (FAP 9B4147). The petition proposed that the food additive regulations be amended to provide for the safe, increased use of ethylenebis(oxyethylene)-bis-(3-tert-butyl-4-hydroxy-5- methylhydrocinnamate) as a stabilizer for polyoxymethylene copolymers and homopolymers intended for food-contact use. SUPPLEMENTARY INFORMATION: In a notice published in the Federal Register of June 20, 1989 (54 FR 25905), FDA announced that a food additive petition (FAP 9B4147) had been filed by Ciba-Geigy Corp., Seven Skyline Dr., Hawthorne, NY 10532-2188. The petition proposed that Sec. 178.2010 Antioxidants and/or stabilizers for polymers (21 CFR 178.2010) be amended to provide for the safe, increased use of ethylenebis(oxyethylene)-bis-(3-tert-butyl-4-hydroxy-5- methylhydrocinnamate) as a stabilizer for polyoxymethylene copolymers and homopolymers intended for food-contact use.
