National Drinking Water Advisory Council; Notice of Open Meeting

    Under Section (1)(a)(2) of Public Law 92-423, ``The Federal 
Advisory Committee Act,'' notice is hereby given that a meeting of the 
National Drinking Water Advisory Council established under the Safe 
Drinking Water Act, as amended (Pub. L. 99-339), will be held at 9:00 
a.m. on May 18, 1995 and at 8:30 a.m. on May 19, 1995, at the Harley 
Hotel of Cincinnati, East Room, 8020 Montgomery Road, Cincinnati, Ohio 
45236. Council Subcommittees will hold their meetings on May 15 and May 
16, 1995, at the EPA Laboratory, 26 West Martin Luther King, 
Cincinnati, Ohio.
    The purpose of the meeting will be to seek Council advice and 
comments on EPA's recently announced ``Agenda For Action,'' which is 
designed to assess and identify priorities and improve the 
effectiveness of drinking water safety. Issues include: improving 
consumer information; identifying priority contaminants for regulation; 
providing technical assistance for small communities and the protecting 
source waters; identifying flexibilities for states, including 
monitoring approaches; and increasing investment in community drinking 
water facilities.
    The meeting will be open to the public. The Council encourages the 
hearing of outside statements and will allocate a portion of its 
meeting time for public participation. Oral statements will be limited 
to ten minutes. It is preferred that there be only one 
[[Page 21522]] presenter for each statement. Any outside parties 
interested in presenting an oral statement should petition the Council 
by telephone at (202) 260-2285. The petition should include the topic 
of the proposed statement, the petitioner's telephone number and should 
be received by the Council before May 11, 1995.
    Any person who wishes to file a written statement can do so before 
or after a Council meeting. Written statements received prior to the 
meeting will be distributed to the members before any final discussion 
or vote is completed. Statements received after the meeting will become 
part of the permanent meeting file and will be forwarded to the Council 
members for their information.
    Any member of the public wishing to attend the Council meeting, 
present an oral statement, or submit a written statement, should
