ACTION: Notice. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- SUMMARY: The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is announcing the withdrawal, without prejudice to a future filing, of a food additive petition (FAP 8B4080), filed by Ciba-Geigy Corp. proposing that the food additive regulations be amended to provide for the safe use of N,N'-1,4-phenylenebis[4-[(2,5-dichlorophenyl)azo]-3-hydroxy-2- naphthalenecarboxamide] as a colorant for food-contact polymers. SUPPLEMENTARY INFORMATION: In a notice published in the Federal Register of May 26, 1988 (53 FR 19045), FDA announced that a food additive petition (FAP 8B4080) had been filed on behalf of Ciba-Geigy Corp., Three Skyline Dr., Hawthorne, NY 10532 (currently c/o Keller and Heckman, 1001 G St. NW., suite 500 West, Washington, DC 20001). The petition proposed to amend the food additive regulations in Sec. 178.3297 Colorants for polymers (21 CFR 178.3297) to provide for the safe use of N,N'-1,4-phenylenebis[4-(2,5-dichlorophenyl)azo]-3- hydroxy-2-naphthalenecarboxamide] as a colorant for food-contact polymers.
