The meeting will start at 8 a.m. and adjourn at 5 p.m. on May 28 and will start at 8 a.m. and end at 12 noon on May 29. The meeting will be held in Room 830 at VA Central Office, 810 Vermont Avenue NW, Washington, DC. The purpose of the meeting is to make the final revisions to the Draft Report to be presented to Dr. Kenneth W. Kizer, Under Secretary for Health, concerning the Committee's review of VA's present research programs to ensure that VA research meets the present and future healthcare needs of veterans. The agenda for May 28 will address comments from the field concerning the Draft Report to Dr. Kizer with recommendations for a realigned research program which includes implementation of Special Emphasis Areas. There will also be discussion of the recommendations for improving policies and procedures concerning informed consent in VA research. On May 29 the committee will make final revisions of the Draft Report to Dr. Kizer. The meeting will be open to the public.
