SUPPLEMENTARY INFORMATION: The following supplementary information is provided: Authority This action is authorized under the Omnibus Crime Control and Safe Streets Act of 1968, Secs. 201-03, as amended, 42 U.S.C. 3721-23 (1994). Background The National Institute of Justice (NIJ) is soliciting proposals to conduct evaluations of four separate Drug Court sites: Las Vegas, NV; Portland, OR; Kansas City, MO; and Penascola, FL. Applicants should propose to evaluate no more than three of the sites, although successful applicants may be asked to develop proposals for sites not proposed in their original application. The Drug Court Program is administered by the Office of Justice Programs (OJP), Drug Court Programs Office (DCPO). DCPO makes available Federal Discretionary Grants for assistance with drug court programs, which DCPO defines as a court calendar or docket specially designed for the purpose of reducing recidivism and substance abuse, and increasing the likelihood of successful rehabilitation through early and continuous judicially supervised treatment. Interested organizations should call the National Criminal Justice Reference Service (NCJRS) at 1-800-851-3420 to obtain a copy of ``Solicitation for Drug Court Evaluation'' (refer to document no.
