This notice is provided pursuant to section 10(c) of the Endangered Species Act of 1973, as amended (16 U.S.C. 1531, et seq.). PRT-831781 Applicant: Herbert M. Jones, South Bend, IN. The applicant requests a permit to take (capture, handle, band and release) peregrine falcons (Falco peregrinus) in Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Michigan for enhancement of the species in the wild through scientific research. PRT-831774 Applicant: Biological Resources Division, U.S. Geological Survey, North Central Forest Experiment Station, St. Paul, Minnesota, L. David Mech, Principle Investigator. The applicant requests a permit to take gray wolves (Canis lupus) throughout the lower 48 states to continue research, restoration and public education efforts previously conducted under the authority of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. Activities are proposed for survival, enhancement and recovery of the species in the wild.
