This is a request for an extension of a currently approved ICR. Abstract: Secondary brass and bronze production plants emit metallic particulate matter in quantities that the Administrator believes cause or contribute to air pollution that may reasonably be anticipated to endanger public health or welfare. Consequently, New Source Performance Standards for secondary brass and bronze production plants were promulgated. Affected facilities are required to meet total particulate emission limits as well as opacity limits. Owners or operators must conduct initial performance tests to verify compliance with the standards, and maintain records of all startup, shutdown, and malfunction events. In [[Page 43160]] the absence of such information, enforcement personnel would be unable to determine whether the standards are being met on a continuous basis, as required by the Clean Air Act. An agency may not conduct or sponsor, and a person is not required to respond to, a collection of information unless it displays a currently valid OMB control number. The OMB control numbers for EPA's regulations are listed in 40 CFR part 9 and 48 CFR Ch. 15. The Federal Register notice required under 5 CFR 1320.8(d), soliciting comments on this collection of information, was published on March 5, 1997 (62 FR 10039). No comments were received.
