Approval and Promulgation of Implementation Plan; Illinois

AGENCY: United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA).

ACTION: Proposed rule.

SUMMARY: The USEPA proposes to approve a revision to the Illinois State 
Implementation Plan (SIP) for the general conformity rules. The general 
conformity SIP revisions enable the State of Illinois to implement the 
Federal general conformity requirements in the nonattainment and 
maintenance areas at the State or local level in accordance with 40 CFR 
part 93, subpart B--Determining Conformity of General Federal Actions 
to State or Federal Implementation Plans.

DATES: Written comments on this proposed action must be received by 
January 22, 1998.
