ACTION: Notice of exemption. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- SUMMARY: Under 49 U.S.C. 10502, the Board is granting the joint petition for exemption filed by Ventura County Transportation Commission (VCTC) and Union Pacific Railroad Company (UP) that this proceeding be exempted from the statutory requirement that it be completed within 180 days. The Board is extending the time limit to 270 days pursuant to the request of the parties. DATES: The exemption is effective on August 11, 1998. Under section 11102(d), the Board must complete the proceeding within 180 days after the filing of the application. As VCTC filed its application on February 12, 1998, the deadline for completion of the proceeding is August 11, 1998. Both VCTC and UP filed a joint petition for exemption from section 11102(d) to extend the deadline for a 90-day period until November 9, 1998.
