Take notice that on August 31, 1998, Kern River Gas Transmission Company (Kern River) tendered for filing a report of Gas Research Institute (GHRI) refunds made to its customers in compliance with the Commission's June 30 letter order in Docket No. RP98-222-001. On August 13, 1998, Kern River states that it refunded to its customers the difference between the GRI surcharges collected from January 1997 through May 1998, and the amount that should have been collected using the correct surcharges. Kern River states that a copy of this filing has been served upon its affected customers and interested state regulatory commissions. Any person desiring to protest this filing should file a protest with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, 888 First Street, N.E., Washington, D.C. 20426, in accordance with Section 385.211 of the Commission's Rules and Regulations. All such protests must be filed on or before September 11, 1998. Protests will be considered by the Commission in determining the appropriate action to be taken, but will not serve to make protestants parties to the proceedings.
