Metting of the Central California Resource Advisory Council

AGENCY: Bureau of Land Management, Department of the Interior .

ACTION: Meeting of the Central California Resource Advisory Council.

SUMMARY: Pursuant to the authorities in the Federal Advisory Committee 
Act (Public Law 92-463) and the Federal Land Policy and Management Act 
of 1976 (sec. 309), the Bureau of Land Management Resource Advisory 
Council for Central California will meet in Bishop, California.

DATES: November 13-14, 1998.

ADDRESSES: Patio Building, Tri-County Fairgrounds, Sierra Street and 
Fair Drive, Bishop, California.

SUPPLEMENTARY INFORMATION: The 12 member Central California Resource 
Advisory Council is appointed by the Secretary of the Interior to 
advise the Bureau of Land Management on public land issues. The Council 
meetings will begin at 8 a.m. both Friday and Saturday, November 13 and 
14. Agenda items include a status report on standards and guidelines 
for grazing on federal lands so as to maintain healthy rangelands and 
how the new grazing regulations will be implemented; a discussion of 
public land issues by the new manager of the BLM-Bishop Field Office, 
Steve Addington: a report on progress of the prescribed fire program; 
and a discussion of local efforts to control invasive weeds. A field 
trip to the volcanic tablelands north of Bishop is scheduled for Friday 
afternoon. A public comment period is scheduled for 1 p.m., Saturday, 
November 14, when anyone may address the Council about any public land 
issue. Written comments will be accepted at the meeting, or at the 
address below.
