Granite State Gas Transmission, Inc.; Notice of Proposed Changes 
in FERC Gas Tariff

December 4, 1998.
    Take notice that on December 1, 1998, Granite State Gas 
Transmission, Inc. (Granite State) tendered for filing as part of its 
FERC Gas Tariff, Third Revised Volume No. 1, the revised tariff sheets 
listed below for the effectiveness on January 1, 1999.

Sixteenth Revised Sheet No. 21
Seventeenth Revised Sheet No. 22
Twelfth Revised Sheet No. 23

    According to Granite State the purpose of its filing is to revise 
the Gas Research Institute (GRI) surcharges in its firm and 
interruptible transportation rates to conform with the reduced 
surcharges to be effective during 1999 proposed by GRI in the 
settlement in Docket No. RP98-235-000 which was approved by the 
Commission in an order issued September 29, 1998.
    Granite State further states that copies of its filing have been 
served on its firm and interruptible transportation customers and on 
the regulatory agencies of the states of Maine, Massachusetts and New 
Hampshire.
    Any person desiring to be heard or to protest said filing should 
file a motion to intervene or a protest with the Federal Energy 
Regulatory Commission, 888 First Street, N.E., Washington, D.C. 20426, 
in accordance with Sections 385.214 or 385.211 of the Commission's 
Rules and Regulations. All such motions or protests must be filed in 
accordance with Section 154.210 of the Commission's Regulations. 
Protests will be considered by the Commission in determining the 
appropriate action to be taken, but will not serve to make protestants 
parties to the proceedings. Any person wishing to become a party must 
file a motion to intervene. Copies of this filing are on file with the 
Commission and are available for public inspection in the Public 
Reference Room.
