Research to Improve the Evaluation and Control of Residential 
Lead-Based Paint Hazards, Fiscal Year 1997

AGENCY: Office of the Secretary--Office of Lead Hazard Control.

ACTION: Announcement of funding awards.

SUMMARY: In accordance with section 102(a)(4)(C) of the Department of 
Housing and Urban Development Reform Act of 1989, this announcement 
notifies the public of funding decisions made by the Department in a 
competition for funding under the NOFA for Research to Improve the 
Evaluation and Control of Residential Lead-Based Paint. This 
announcement contains the names and addresses of the award recipients 
and the amounts of awards.

SUPPLEMENTARY INFORMATION: The purpose of the competition was to award 
grant funding of approximately $2,500,000 for grants and cooperative 
agreements for research to improve the evaluation and control of lead-
based paint hazards.
    The 1997 awards announced in this Notice were selected for funding 
in a competition announced in a Federal Register notice published on 
November 27, 1996 (61 FR 60499). Applications were scored and selected 
on the basis of selection criteria contained in that Notice.
    The Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance number for this program 
is 14.900.
    A total of $3,614,852 was awarded to ten grantees. In accordance 
with section 102(a)(4)(C) of the Department of Housing and Urban 
Development Reform Act of 1989 (103 Stat. 1987, 42 U.S.C. 3545), the 
Department is publishing the names, addresses, and amounts of those 
awards as follows.
