Meeting of the Senior Advisory Board on National Security

AGENCY: Department of Defense, Office of the Under Secretary of Defense 
(Policy).

ACTION: Notice of partially closed meeting.

SUMMARY: The Senior Advisory Board on National Security will meet in 
open and closed sessions on April 5-6, 1999. The Board was chartered by 
the Secretary of Defense to conduct a comprehensive review of the early 
twenty-first century global security environment; develop appropriate 
national security objectives and a strategy to attain these objectives; 
and recommend concomitant changes to the national security apparatus as 
necessary.
    The Senior Advisory Board will meet in open session on the 
afternoon of 5 April with American business executives to discuss 
corporation forecasting methods and variables that corporations use in 
strategic planning. The closed session will occur on 6 April. At this 
session the Senior Advisory Board will review and discuss inputs for 
the Phase 1 report that the Study Group has prepared and that are based 
on classified material concerning global regional trends and possible 
conflict situations.
    In accordance with Section 10(d) of the Federal Advisory Committee 
Act, Public Law 92-463, as amended [5 U.S.C., Appendix II], it is 
anticipated that matters affecting national security, as covered by 5 
U.S.C. 552b(c)(1)(1988), will be presented throughout the meeting on 6 
April, and that, accordingly, the meeting will be closed to the public.

DATES: Monday, 5 April 1:30-5:00 p.m. (open); Tuesday, 6 April 8:30 
a.m.-4:30 p.m. (closed).
