DEPARTMENT OF LABOR

Employment and Training Administration
[TA-W-35,034]

Geneva Steel, Vineyard, Utah; Amended Certification Regarding
Eligibility to Apply for Worker Adjustment Assistance

In accordance with Section 223 of the Trade Act of 1974 (19 U.S.C.
2273) the Department of Labor issued a Certification of Eligibility to
Apply for Worker Adjustment Assistance on October 23, 1998, applicable
to all workers of Geneva Steel located in Vineyard, Utah. The notice
was published in the Federal Register on November 10, 1998 (63 FR
63087).
At the request of the petitioners, the Department reviewed the
certification for workers of the subject firm. New information shows
that employees of Ainge Enterprises, Inc., Spanish Fork, Utah were
employed by Geneva Steel to prepare (cut) scrap steel for the blast
furnaces used in the production of hot rolled steel products (plates,
sheets, coils and pipes) at the Vineyard, Utah facility. Worker
separations occurred at Ainge Enterprises, Inc. as a result of workers
separations at Geneva Steel.
Based on these findings, the Department is amending the
certification to include workers of Ainge Enterprises, Inc., Spanish
Fork, Utah
