Social Security: Continuing Disability Review Process Improved, But More Targeted Reviews Needed (Testimony, 03/10/94, GAO/T-HEHS-94-121). GAO is encouraged by the Social Security Administration's (SSA) efforts to make the continuing disability review process more efficient and cost-effective through the use of computer profiling and beneficiary self-reported data. GAO is concerned, however, that SSA continues to do too few continuing disability reviews, particularly for beneficiaries with the greatest likelihood of being removed from the disability rolls. In GAO's view, finding ways to provide SSA with more money to do the reviews is worthwhile. --------------------------- Indexing Terms ----------------------------- REPORTNUM: T-HEHS-94-121 TITLE: Social Security: Continuing Disability Review Process Improved, But More Targeted Reviews Needed DATE: 03/10/94 SUBJECT: Disability benefits Supplemental security income program Eligibility determinations Cost control Medical examinations Beneficiaries Erroneous payments Social security benefits Disadvantaged persons IDENTIFIER: Social Security Disability Insurance Program ------------------------------------------------------------------------ We regret that electronic text of GAO Testimony is not available at this time.
