In recent days, I have emphasized the central role that international trade must play in promoting the economic growth of our country. The attached agenda outlines the tasks that lie before us in the area of trade. The breadth of the agenda highlights the scope of the challenge we confront, but also the great potential for creating new jobs for Americans. From manufacturing to services, from entertainment products to agriculture, opportunities for U.S. exports exist around the globe. In tandem with the Congress, I will work to ensure that all Americans with a competitive product have the opportunity to tap the global marketplace. William J. Clinton. The White House, March 5, 1993. The SPEAKER pro tempore, Mr. McDERMOTT, by unanimous consent, the message, together with the accompanying papers, was referred to the Committee on Ways and Means.
