ORDER TO SHOW CAUSE (see attached) directing Defendants to show cause on or before November 27, 2017, why Plaintiff's 6 Motion for a Preliminary Injunction should not be granted. The Clerk shall mail a certified copy of the 1 Complaint, the Plaintiff's 6 Motion for Preliminary Injunction, and this Order to the Defendants, consistent with directions set forth in this Order. Defendants, or their counsel, must enter appearances and file responsive papers to Plaintiff's 6 motion for preliminary injunctive relief on or before Monday, November 27, 2017. Plaintiff may file a reply to Defendants' responsive papers on or before Monday, December 4, 2017. INITIAL REVIEW ORDER (see attached). Upon the Court's review of Plaintiff's Complaint pursuant to 28 US.C. § 1915A, the case may proceed only on the following federal claims: Eighth Amendment claim for "excessive force" against Phillips, Eighth Amendment claim for "failure to protect" from harm against Nunez, and Eighth Amendment hazardous "conditions of confinement" claim against Watson. Each federal claim is permitted against the defendant solely in his individual capacity for money damages. Abrams's state law claims of assault, battery, and intentional infliction of emotional distress may proceed against Phillips in his individual capacity for damages.
