OPINION AND ORDER as to Marquis Deron Heard (1): Prior to jury selection in this matter, Dft has declined the assistance of stand-by counsel and asked the Court to provide him with a laptop for use during trial so that he could perform legal research. Dft has been offered the assistance of an atty. Stand-by counsel has and will be in the courtroom throughout trial. The Court again urges Dft to utilize stand-by counsel for legal advice. The Court denies Dft's request for a laptop to preform his own legal research. Signed by Judge Karen K. Caldwell on 01/08/2013. (KLB) cc: COR,USM,USP
