JENNIFER (JENN) SIMS

Jenn Sims assumed the role of Counsel to the Inspector General in August 2024. She provides legal support and guidance to the OIG across all functional areas. Jenn previously served as senior counsel at GPO OIG.
Jenn joined GPO OIG from the Department of the Air Force, where she served as a civilian attorney advising on complex operational law matters in support of Air Combat Command’s combat air, cyber, and intelligence missions. Prior to her time at the Air Force, Jenn spent six years on the southwest border as an attorney and deputy assistant chief counsel for Customs and Border Protection’s Laredo, Texas office. She provided legal advice on a wide range of issues, including criminal investigations, personnel and ethics matters, civil rights issues, Federal Tort Claims Act cases, and immigration and trade law. Jenn started her law career as a law clerk and chief staff attorney for the Hon. Michael H. Schneider in the Eastern District of Texas, serving for six years as the primary legal advisor for hundreds of civil and criminal matters.
Jenn graduated from the University of Maryland Baltimore County. She earned her law degree from Baylor Law School.
