As Inspector General (IG) for the Government Publishing Office (GPO), Deahl oversees the Agency’s Office of Inspector General (OIG). GPO OIG provides independent and objective oversight of GPO administration and operations and supports Agency leadership’s and Congress’ efforts to improve effectiveness, efficiency and accountability. Biography

Deahl first joined GPO in 2019 when he took a position as the AIG for Inspections at GPO where he built the first inspections program for the GPO OIG. In 2020, Deahl was promoted to Deputy Inspector General. In this capacity, he ensured all OIG activity was conducted with the utmost integrity and objectivity and worked closely with the Inspector General.

Deahl graduated from the University of Arizona in 1999, with a double-major in Molecular-Biology and Psychology. Upon graduation, Deahl earned an Air Force commission as a navigator and attended flight school at Pensacola Naval Air Station. In 2001, he was selected to train and fly as a weapons systems officer in the F-15E Strike Eagle. After an injury cut his flying career short, Deahl graduated the Air Force’s Intelligence Officer’s course as the top graduate and was then assigned to Hickam AFB Hawaii. There he served in various positions from the Assistant Director of Operations to the squadron’s lead targeting and intelligence planner. In December 2004, after a devastating tsunami hit Indonesia and neighboring countries, Deahl was assigned as one of the senior intelligence duty officers for the relief mission that followed.

In 2007, Deahl resigned his commission and moved to Washington D.C. There, he worked as a contractor for the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency’s (NGA) Chief Information Officer (CIO) leadership and communications engagement. In 2009, Deahl took a permanent Government position with NGA as the deputy responsible for the privacy program and IT policy. Deahl joined NGA’s Office of Inspector General in 2010 as an inspector where he spearheaded the creation of an Intelligence Oversight Inspection program, which was acknowledged as a best practice in the Department of Defense. After promotions to Senior Inspector, Deputy Assistant IG (AIG) for Inspections and, the Assistant IG for Inspections, he was responsible for overseeing several Council of the Inspectors General on Integrity and Efficiency (CIGIE) and Intelligence Community Inspector General award-winning evaluations (2012, 2017, 2018, and 2019).

Deahl also earned his second master’s in public policy management from Georgetown University in May 2015.
