To become a GPO contractor you must do the following:

Step 1: Obtain a Unique Entity Identifier

Unique Entity Identifier (formerly DUNS) number is a nine-digit number established to uniquely identify business entities. Visit the Unique Entity Identifier Request Service to register.

Step 2: Register your Business with the System of Award Management (SAM)

You need to register your business with the federal government's SAM, the primary database of vendors doing business with the federal government. Federal Acquisitions Regulations (FAR) require all prospective vendors to be registered in SAM prior to the award of a contract, basic agreement, basic ordering agreement, or blanket purchase agreement.

Step 3: Register and Create a Profile on Sam.gov

Sam.gov is the single government point-of-entry for Federal government procurement opportunities over $25,000. Government buyers are able to publicize their business opportunities by posting information directly via the Internet. Through one portal, commercial vendors seeking Federal markets for their products and services can search, monitor, and retrieve opportunities solicited by the entire Federal contracting community.
