GPO DIRECTOR APPOINTS LEADERS TO DEPOSITORY LIBRARY COUNCIL
WASHINGTON — U.S. Government Publishing Office (GPO) Director Hugh Nathanial Halpern, on the Agency’s 165th birthday, has appointed six new members to the Depository Library Council (DLC). The DLC has advised the GPO Director on policy matters relating to the Federal Depository Library Program (FDLP) and access to U.S. Government information for more than 50 years. In addition to experience working in various types of libraries, the new DLC members have experience with and knowledge of current developments in library science and U.S. Government information. These new members will help position the DLC and the FDLP to advance GPO’s vision of an America Informed.
“The strength of the Federal Depository Library Program rests in the expertise and dedication of its leaders,” said Director Halpern. “These new council members bring deep experience in access, innovation, and public service. Their guidance will help GPO continue expanding access to trusted Government information and promote our vision of an America Informed.”
Joining a current cohort with the term June 1, 2026 – May 31, 2028:
Brent Abercrombie, Regional Coordinator, Reference Librarian, Indiana State Library
Brent Abercrombie is the Indiana Regional Coordinator and Reference Librarian at the Indiana State Library. He began his career there in 2008 as a Manuscript Librarian and became Regional Coordinator in 2015. An active leader in the Government documents community, Abercrombie serves as Chair of the Midwest NCSA Steering Committee (2025–2026) and Chair of INDIGO (Indiana Networking for Documents and Information of Government Organizations). He also chairs the planning committee for Indiana’s Government Information Day Conference.
These five new DLC members will serve from June 1, 2026 – May 31, 2029:
Andie Craley, Technical Services & Government Information Librarian and Depository Coordinator, Harford Community College Library
Andie Craley is the Technical Services & Government Information Librarian and Depository Coordinator at Harford Community College in Bel Air, Maryland. She has more than 25 years of library experience, including over two decades working with the Federal Depository Library Program. Under her leadership, the Harford Community College Library was named Depository Library of the Year in 2024. Craley has held numerous leadership roles within the American Library Association’s Government Documents Round Table (GODORT) and has served on national and regional committees supporting cataloging, access, and Government information services.
Ashley S. Dees, Associate Head of Research & Instruction Services and Associate Professor, University of Mississippi Libraries
Ashley S. Dees is Associate Head of Research & Instruction Services and Associate Professor at the University of Mississippi Libraries (UML). She serves as Government Documents Coordinator at UML and Regional Coordinator for Mississippi. Dees supports research and information literacy initiatives across multiple academic departments and is active in the Mississippi Library Association. She is a past president of the Southeastern Library Association’s Government Documents Round Table.
Dominique Hallett, Government Information and STEM Librarian, Dean B. Ellis Library, Arkansas State University
Dominique Hallett is the Government Information and STEM Librarian at Arkansas State University since 2014 and serves as adjunct faculty at University of Illinois, UrbanaChampaign teaching Government Information since 2022. She has co-edited a book on Government information. She is also the author of the "What's up Docs?" column for the Arkansas Libraries journal.
Antoine McGrath, FDLP Coordinator and Manager of Open Library, Internet Archive Library
Antoine McGrath is the first FDLP Coordinator and Manager of Open Library at the Internet Archive, where he leads the development of a digital Federal depository library to support long-term public access to Government information. The Internet Archive, which preserves more than one trillion web pages and stewards over 200 petabytes of data across web, text, audio, video, software, and other cultural materials, is a digital member of the FDLP. McGrath works on large-scale web archiving and digital preservation initiatives, including Democracy’s Library and the End of Term Web Archive, focused on preserving Federal publications and web content. Prior to his current role, McGrath created what was then the largest public aggregation of Congressional Research Service (CRS) reports. He has testified before the House Appropriations Subcommittee on the Legislative Branch in support of public access to historical CRS reports.
Joe Mocnik, Ph.D., Professor, Senior Advisor, Hale Library, Kansas State University
Joe Mocnik, Ph.D., is a Professor and Senior Advisor at Kansas State University with more than two decades of leadership experience in libraries and higher education. He has overseen strategic initiatives involving multimillion-dollar budgets, facilities projects, digital scholarship, data services, and AI literacy. A former Fulbright Scholar, Dr. Mocnik is committed to advancing innovation, community engagement, and lifelong learning.
