GPO Director Names Managing Director of Government Integrated Print Services
WASHINGTON − U.S. Government Publishing Office (GPO) Director Hugh Nathanial Halpern named Ravinder Birdi as the Agency’s Managing Director of Government Integrated Print Services (GIPS). As Managing Director of GIPS, Birdi is responsible for leading the team that produces and publishes essential Government documents such as the Congressional Record, Federal Register, Code of Federal Regulations, President’s Budget and legislative documents such as bills, hearings and reports.
“Ravinder brings a wealth of publishing and print experience and a forward-thinking mindset to GPO,” said GPO Director Hugh Nathanial Halpern. “I look forward to the continued growth and modernization of GIPS under his direction and congratulate Ravinder on his well-deserved promotion.”
Birdi has more than 15 years of experience in large-scale printing and production operations. He joined GPO in 2019 as Manager of Press and Bindery, later serving as Deputy Managing Director of GIPS before being named Managing Director.
Since joining GPO, Birdi has strengthened production operations supporting the Congressional Record, Federal Register, and other essential legislative documents. He has implemented LEAN and Six Sigma process improvements across press and bindery operations, introduced data-driven performance management systems, and overseen multi-million-dollar investments in digital book production technology.
Prior to Federal service, Birdi served as Director of Operations for AURA in Chantilly, Virginia, where he built and managed high-speed digital print operations and reduced operational costs by more than 30 percent annually.
Birdi holds a bachelor’s degree in public administration from Panjab University in India.
