GPO Launches New Federal Bookstore Website


WASHINGTON - The U.S. Government Publishing Office (GPO) launches a newly designed, user-friendly U.S. Government Online Bookstore. https://bookstore.gpo.gov . The site features a simple, mobile-friendly navigation that connects the user to more than four thousand titles on topics from the Federal Government. GPO started making Government publications available for sale in the 1920s with a retail bookstore and then established an online presence for selling publications in 1999.

Some of the new features include:

The launch of this site is a continuation of GPO meeting the needs of Federal Agencies and the public, by providing easy access to Government information on smartphones, tablets, laptops, and personal computers,” said GPO Director Davita Vance-Cooks.

GPO is the Federal Government's official, digital, secure resource for producing, procuring, cataloging, indexing, authenticating, disseminating, and preserving the official information products of the U.S. Government. The GPO is responsible for the production and distribution of information products and services for all three branches of the Federal Government, including U.S. passports for the Department of State as well as the official publications of Congress, the White House, and other Federal agencies in digital and print formats. GPO provides for permanent public access to Federal Government information at no charge through www.govinfo.gov, partnerships with approximately 1,150 libraries nationwide participating in the Federal Depository Library Program, and our secure online bookstore.
