GPO Updates Business Unit Names

WASHINGTON —The U.S. Government Publishing Office (GPO) has launched new names for its various business units. The Agency standardized department names to distinguish units that service GPO customers such as Congress, the White House, and Federal agencies from those that service GPO as an Agency.

The full list of new business unit names can be found at https://www.gpo.gov/docs/default-source/branding/gpo-business-unit-nameupdate-reference-guide.pdf

“Updating and standardizing our business unit names will help our internal and external customers understand the roles of various business units and what products and services we offer,” said GPO Director Hugh Nathanial Halpern. “We are excited for this change which represents another step forward in GPO delivering on its vision of an America Informed.”

GPO business units that are inward-facing now start with the prefix “Agency,” whereas business units that are outward-facing now start with the prefix “Government”. A few of the new names for GPO’s important customer-facing business units are:

  • Government Integrated Print Services, previously Plant Operations.
  • Government Secure & Intelligent Documents, previously Security & Intelligent Documents.
  • Government Publishing & Print Procurement, previously Customer Services
